I expect The Onion will do big things with the Infowars brand. I'm picturing a more extreme Colbert Report for the social media age.
The thing with Colbert (his "Right-wing pundit" character) is he was popular with both Republicans and Democrats. I guess they both laughed for different reasons, but I don't think one side was "laughing with" and the other "laughing at".
Folks love to be made fun of as long as the characterization rings true.
Or at least that was true when the country was less polarized and the Overton Window wasn't stretched into a panorama. So I guess we'll see. Though at the time, we sure thought things were polarized didn't we? Simpler times.
